My wife, Cindy, and I took care of her father in our home for over 5 years. He had Parkinson’s Disease. This song was written during his final days as I was sitting in the dark in a chair beside his bed. Cindy was working in the hallway just outside the bedroom. It was about 11:30 pm. We weren’t sure if he was going to make it through the night.   

As I was watching her work out there, how tirelessly she kept pushing forward, I began to write these words.

It’s just amazing because whether with her dad or with me, or really anybody who comes into our house, she just shows the same love everywhere she goes. It’s really amazing. It made me very grateful and I realized how blessed I am to have this woman, Cindy Alewine, as my wife. And every day it’s sweeter, all the things she does seem to get sweeter. She truly is my helpmate and my soulmate. That’s where I wrote this,
